The Real Postmodern Art
As an artist there are certain sites which I visit regularly to feed my brain. One such site is Wooster Collective - a blog which contains daily posts covering the vast expanse of what is known as "street art". Street art is a loosely defined form of art that takes place in the street, most of it illegal. It is closely related to graffiti but its aesthetic and mediums span a much broader range from stickers to stencils, posters to murals, found object to performance art. its ethos is thoroughly postmodern as its theory, aesthetic and practice is urban, lowbrow, subversive and anti-elitist. (Something the high art community can never truly be, making their form of postmodern expression a truly bastardized version. Its like socialism as practiced by fat capitalists.) So check out Wooster Collective. You will thank them later.
